El Cerrito El Cerrito, which means "Little Hill," offers the advantages of suburban living and at the same time is one of the closest communities to San Francisco. It is an extremely stable community, with population in the city limits at approximately 25,000 residents, virtually unchanged from 1960. Most homes are older, located on hilly view lots and in the medium price range.
